Our Company

Swanson Group is a multigenerational family-owned company, and have been since our founding in 1951. We started with a small single sawmill located in Glendale, OR , and were among the first in Oregon to adopt small log technology – which proved to be successful. Fast forward to today, Swanson Group has become a family of businesses with 3 world-class mill sites that provide a diverse product mix, customer mix, and geographic market mix, producing high-end quality products.

At the heart of the Swanson Group are its employees, who embody a wealth of experience, expertise, and a deep understanding of the forest products industry. Commodity Plywood

Swanson Group Commodity Plywood is a versatile building material commonly used in residential home construction. Roof and wall sheathing to Sturd-I-Floor Underlayment for flooring.  Our sanded plywood is a versatile product that can be used for shelving, cabinets, or anywhere a tough, smooth surface is needed.

Sanded

Swanson Group’s sanded plywood is renowned for their industry-leading quality. Recognized by builders throughout the West Coast and beyond, our products feature a beautifully crafted finish surface, ideal for diverse applications.

Studs

Swanson Group primarily offers Kiln Dried and Green 2×4 and 2×6 studs, but also supplies 3” and 4”, available in lengths ranging 8-10’. Our studs provide superior strength and stability, ensuring sturdy framework for construction, and is the ideal choice for contractors and builders seeking top-notch building materials. We have built our reputation on selecting studs carefully for their superior building and visual characteristics.

Industrials

Swanson Group is a leading manufacturer of industry-grade plywood, catering to the diverse needs of construction and other industrial sectors. We offer a comprehensive range of plywood products such as: AB Marine, Tempered Plyron, Tuf Tred®, Swanply, and much more.  Tempered Plyron used as a stage floor   has an impact-resistant, hardboard-faced plywood with excellent paintability. Swanply is  used for high-end applications where color, surface, and edge performance is needed to accent a natural cedar look. Tuf Tred® is an ADA approved walking surface that can be used in application such as wheel chair ramps, walk ways, docks, platforms, and more.

Siding

Superior Hardwood Siding products provide a natural cedar look that is designed to protect your property from the elements while upholding environmental consciousness. Swanson Groups Doug Fir siding comes in premium and standard grades. It combines the beauty of saw-textured wood with the ease of working with a real wood. Swanson Select is our newest siding that provides a uniform look of wood without all the wood repairs normally seen in Doug Fir.

Sign Making Panels

Swanson’s sign panels have a 60 year history of performance exhibited in our wide panel selection,  including the first high gloss UV coated MDO panel in North America. Swanson’s Sign grade plywood is engineered to meet your highest standards for real estate signs, everyday use signs, and green reflective highway signs. These panels also provide an excellent smooth uniform surface for all types of application for coatings and unique applications.

Veneer & By-Products

Swanson Group’s softwood veneer is known for superior performance in laying up commodity plywood, specialty plywood, and engineered lumber.

Douglas Fir is our primary species, however we also source Hemlock, Lodge Pole Pine, Ponderosa Pine, Spruce, White Fir, and Pine offered in .100, .125, .142, .150, and .166 inch thickness and 4’x4′ and 4’x8′ dimensions.

At DPR, we have been using Swanson products for multiple years and projects. The quality of Swanson products always exceeds our expectations. I happened to be at our local lumber yard for a tour to view other Swanson products when I noticed the Tuf-Tred sample on the table. It intrigued me as I was about to start a project in which I had to replace the exterior site concrete and I had to build temporary pedestrian ADA ramps. Tuf-Tred surpassed my expectation as the product was exposed to direct weather, heavy foot and construction traffic. Products like this one is why we continue to use Swanson products on our projects.
